As a guest is it considered bad taste to wear white to a wedding

Since the bride normally wears white and it is her special day, it is often of the opinion that she will “stand out” by wearing her white wedding dress. A guest wearing white is often viewed as competing with the bride. Many brides will be offended by this so it is always recommended to avoid wearing white to a wedding unless specifically requested by the Bridal couple, i.e. a white themed wedding
