Zoete Liefde

We are Zoete Liefde, a rustic wedding and function venue set on the northern slopes of the Magaliesberg, inside the Magaliesburg Biosphere, just off the R104 old Rustenburg road outside Hartbeespoort. When we built this place, we weren't trying to create another marquee-on-a-lawn wedding venue. We wanted somewhere that felt like the bushveld itself was part of the ceremony, with mountains at your back, marula trees overhead, and a restored barn that still carries the character of what it was before it ever hosted a wedding.

Your day usually starts outdoors, in our chapel, with the Magaliesberg range as a backdrop instead of a printed one. From there we move guests into the boma, set beneath the marula trees, for sundowners and photographs while the light softens over the valley. It's the hour a lot of our couples end up loving most, once the bushveld goes gold and the whole party is standing under those trees with a drink in hand. When it's time to eat and dance, everyone moves into the barn, our restored rustic reception hall, where exposed beams and worn wood keep the feel of a real working farm building rather than a blank hall dressed up for the occasion.

We also built a private honeymoon suite into the property, hidden away in the bush a short walk from the main venue. It works double duty on your wedding day: it's your bridal suite in the morning while hair and makeup happen, and by nightfall it's transformed into a quiet, private space just for the two of you. It's included in every wedding package we offer. Check-in is 08:00 on the morning of your wedding and check-out is 11:00 the next day, so there's no rush the morning after. Inside you'll find air conditioning, a coffee and tea station, a small fridge and freezer, and a vintage freestanding bath with cast-iron feet in the bathroom, stocked with white towels, handwash and body lotion. It's kept as a non-smoking room throughout.

If your family or bridal party need more beds than the suite can offer, Bietjie Bos sits right next door: bush accommodation for up to 37 guests, surrounded by game roaming the property, so your closest people can wake up to the same view you did.

We don't only host weddings. A good part of our calendar is 40th and 50th birthdays, milestone celebrations, year-end functions, corporate get-togethers and private parties. The same barn, boma and grounds adapt easily from a wedding reception one weekend to a dance floor for a fiftieth birthday the next, and there's enough room across the indoor and outdoor spaces to keep decor, music and dining flexible whatever the occasion. We're always glad when couples come back to celebrate other things here later, whether that's an anniversary or a family milestone.
