Ok, so now you are happily engaged, what’s next in the grand scheme of wedding planning? Well one of the first things- after working out your budget and deciding on how many guests you are going to invite- you need to decide on where you are going to get married.
When a couple starts looking for a wedding venue, too often they fall in love with the beauty of the place and sign a contract before they’ve considered the practicalities.
The Wedding Directory has compiled a list of important questions to ask your venue before making your final decision-
- Do they have an in-house caterer, make sure to check to see if you like the food they provide? (make sure you taste it!)
- Do they allow for outside catering companies?
- Do they have adequate bathroom facilities?
- What’s the cancellation policy (you never know)?
- What are the payment options? What kind of deposit is required?
- Are there any hidden costs? (Before you sign the contract, read it carefully.)
- What are the overtime charges?
- Do they have a liquor license?
- Will they allow you to bring your own liquor?
- Does the wedding venue already own a sound system with adequate speakers or will that need to be brought in?
- Is there a space for the bride and groom to change and/or relax before hand?
- Who will be supervising before the day of your wedding? Who will be supervising and troubleshooting on the day of your wedding? Can you meet them now?
- Are candles or other open flames allowed?
- If its an outdoor location, do they have any backup plans for bad weather?
