Our Story
Skilpadvlei has been owned by the Joubert family's since 1917. Four generations have farmed this land, and that heritage is part of what couples feel the moment they arrive on the estate.
Why Skilpadvlei
No venue fee, ever. The ML Joubert Venue comes fully equipped: air conditioning, backup generator, a fully licensed bar, disabled access, and enough parking that logistics never become your problem. It's a space built to handle a real wedding day.
The Ceremony
Two settings, both included your choice: the lawn in front of our historic Manor House, sun drenched and garden framed, or the quieter Edge of the Dam, private with water views
The Venue
Our ML Joubert Venue seats 180 without a dance floor, or 150 with one. Warm and adaptable, built for both intimate gatherings and full celebrations.
Package
R800 per person, inclusive of venue hire, full service, and a 3 course meal. This covers waiters, bar staff, tables, white linen, glassware, crockery, and a menu you help design, buffet or plated. Garden space for pre drinks, standard set up and cleaning. Décor access from 9am
What You Bring
DJ, décor and flowers. We bring the setting and the service.
Stay On the Estate
On site accommodation, 7 self catering cottages and 11 B&B rooms, means the party doesn't have to end with a drive home.

Yes . 7 self-catering cottages (sleeps up to 30 sharing) and 11 B&B rooms (sleeps up to 22 sharing ) and 2 self catering flats that sleeps up to 7 sharing , so the celebration doesn't have to end with a drive home.
It depends on season and day. Peak season (Oct–Apr): 100 on Saturdays, 80 on Fridays, 50 on other days. Off-peak (May–Sept): 80 on Saturdays, 60 on Fridays, 50 on other days.

From the moment we got there, we were told there are no available tables (had a reservation) we were told to sit semi outside, other people came in and got seated. We had to ask the waitress if we could move inside which we eventually did. Dinner went well, then came payment. The amount went off on my end, their card machine shows it declined, I was asked to make another payment, which I did not hesistate to do because "I would be refunded, once both reflects" . Almost 2 weeks later, I've provided a statement and proof that payments went off on my side, yet STILL NO REFUND! I'm getting a run around, manager is never available, others say they're not aware of it. I'm calling, emailing, no response. I've been to this place before and this is the first time I have to deal with such nonsense.
Very disappointed with our recent lunch visit at the restaurant. When we arrived, the staff member at the front simply pointed and told us “the second table on the stoep is open” without even accompanying us or offering a friendly welcome. We had specifically requested a certain seating section when making the booking, but this was completely ignored. Our waiter eventually helped move us to another table, but this should have been handled properly from the start. We also waited more than 10 minutes before anyone came to assist us with drinks. What made it more frustrating was seeing other guests being warmly greeted and given seating options while we were simply pointed to a table. The food itself was fine, but the service and overall experience were very unprofessional. The manager also never came to check on us. I’ve visited this restaurant a few times before, but after this experience I definitely won’t be returning.

She made us feel so welcomed, warmth and we experienced extremely exceptional service and professionalism from her 👏🏽. She absolutely made the experience at Wine Tasting at Skilpadvlei and the overall experience there phenomenal.
