We are The Nut Farm — a working pecan orchard in Skeerpoort, tucked beneath the Magaliesberg, that we turned into a wedding venue almost by accident. This was our dream for four years before it was anyone else's wedding day: we left city life for a farm neither of us knew how to run, and while only the basic structures were in place, we got married here ourselves. We painted the walls, physically built parts of this venue with our own hands, and stood exactly where our couples now stand to say their vows. That's not a marketing line — it's why every corner of this place has been built with the kind of care you only put into something that once was your own wedding day.

We built The Nut Farm around the idea that a wedding doesn't have to look like everyone else's. Our Outdoor Chapel sits open to the orchard and the mountain range — 360 square metres of pecan trees and sky, with an Inside Chapel on standby for the rainy months, because we'd rather have a backup plan than an umbrella emergency mid-ceremony. Our reception space is a high, double-volume canvas structure with a wood-fired pizza oven built right into the setting, and doors that fold back so the line between indoors and outdoors mostly disappears. We keep a fully licensed bar on-site, including our own Pecan Liqueur, brewed here on the farm, plus the option of craft beer on tap or a gin station for your guests.

For couples who want the full day — ceremony, reception, dancing until the fire pits burn low — our venue hire runs from R32,668 on a weekday up to R54,550 on a Saturday, with Fridays at R43,950 and a R10,000 booking fee to secure your date. That covers the outdoor chapel and cocktail area, the orchard for your photographs, our stylish white Tolix chairs and hand-crafted wooden tables, cutlery, crockery and glassware, coffee and tea service, an on-site event coordinator to help you plan every detail, fire pits for the cold nights, and a complimentary night at one of our partner guesthouses in the area. We cap full weddings at 200 guests, because past that point we think a wedding stops feeling like your wedding and starts feeling like an event.

But if a 200-guest reception was never really what you wanted, that's exactly who we built our elopement package for. It's a flat R43,800 for 20 guests — no per-head pricing, no upsell ladder, just one number that covers your ceremony and celebration in the same orchard, under the same mountain, with none of the scale or logistics of a full wedding. We built this for the couple who wants all of the beauty and none of the guest list — the ones who would rather spend the morning getting ready with the handful of people who matter most than manage a seating chart for two hundred. It is, quite deliberately, the opposite of what most wedding venues sell.

Either way, you get the same pecan orchard, the same Magaliesberg backdrop, the same wood-fired oven and the same liqueur we make ourselves. We don't try to be a blank-canvas ballroom that could be dressed up to look like anywhere — we're a farm first, and we think that's obvious the second you drive through the gate and see the orchard rows stretching out toward the mountains.
