As with everything else in life, you get what you pay for. There are many legal eagles who offer online prenuptial agreements for as little as R800, but your first prize is to make an appointment with a reputable attorney who can offer you customised, personal service, comprehensive documentation and, more importantly, peace of mind.

The Afrikaans expression goedkoop is duurkoop, which, directly translated, means ‘cheap is expensive’. This is one area where you don’t want to skimp. Your attorney should be able to wrap things up in 2-3 hours of billable time (slightly more if there are complicated details to include) not a lot of money, considering that it is an investment in your future.
